Private Auwen Lessons: Learn Faster With Weekly 1-on-1 Sessions

Nes performing a live Auwen set

Private, one-on-one Auwen lessons are officially open for booking. Here's what you can walk away with:

  • Learn to create songs like your favorite artists. Bring a reference track and we'll break down what's actually happening in it, then build toward that sound in your own sessions.
  • Create and release your music to streaming platforms. Go from "I've been messing around" to a finished, mastered track with a real release, not just another loop sitting on your hard drive.
  • Learn to improvise dance music live. Auwen was built for performance, not just production. Lessons cover the muscle memory and decision making that live improvisation actually requires.
  • Get hands-on support with mixing and mastering. Bring your own session and we'll work through it together. Although Auwen does some automatic mixing and mastering it still helps to have extra guidance and feedback from an experienced producer.
  • Shape Auwen itself. You're learning directly from the person building the software. Feedback and feature requests from lessons go straight into what gets built next.

Why weekly lessons are better than workshops for intermediate learners

I've taught a lot of workshops at this point. They're a great first taste, but a few hours once in a while isn't how anyone actually gets good at something. After teaching many workshops and working with artists one-on-one, I've come to realize weekly private lessons are a much better way to learn: you work at your own pace and go deeper on exactly what you're stuck on.

A weekly schedule also creates accountability. Knowing you have a lesson coming up on the same day, at the same time, every week, is what actually gets people to sit down and practice. The people who progress are the ones who show up consistently even for just 1 hour per week.

Why learn Auwen from me specifically

I built Auwen. Every scale, every sample-chopping algorithm, every piece of the automatic mixing and mastering, I designed and wrote all of it over the past three years. I've also spent about 20 years producing music across a range of genres, and taught Auwen workshops at Gray Area SF, tiat SF, and Mars College in Bombay Beach. There's nobody else who can teach you the internals of this specific tool, and there's nobody who's spent more time thinking about how to actually perform with it in front of a room.

How it works

Lessons are one-on-one, over voice/video in the Auwen Discord. Pick a plan, pick a recurring weekly time slot, and show up.

Single Lesson, $100. Try one lesson with no ongoing commitment.

Weekly Plan, $70/lesson. 4 lessons a month at a fixed weekly time, with Auwen Pro included for as long as you're enrolled.

Founding Cohort, $55/lesson. A locked-in rate for the first 5 students, for as long as you stay enrolled. Once those 5 spots are gone, this tier is gone with them.

A few questions you might have

Do I need any experience?

No. Auwen has no music theory prerequisite, and the command line interface is approachable even if you've never touched a terminal before. Lessons meet you exactly where you are.

What if I already have Auwen Pro?

The Weekly Plan includes Pro for as long as you're enrolled, on top of whatever you already have, so there's no downside either way.

What happens after I book?

You'll get a confirmation with your day and time. Download the Discord desktop app, grab headphones and a working microphone, and say hi in #lessons or message me directly right before your lesson.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Yes, anytime, right from your booking page.

If you've been meaning to actually get good at this instead of just messing around, sign up :)
