Music Mondays SF: Weekly Dance Music Workshops & Performances

A New Hub for Electronic Music in SF
We're excited to announce the launch of Music Mondays, our new weekly event series in San Francisco near Union Square. Held at 151 Powell Street, we've designed these events as a unique fusion of workshops and live performances to nurture the electronic music community and create the city's premier destination for dance music education and performance.
Our Vision: Education Meets Performance
Our concept is elegantly simple yet comprehensive: combine hands-on learning with live performance in a single weekly event. Every Monday at 6 PM, we transform the space into both classroom and concert venue, offering attendees the chance to learn new skills and experience cutting-edge electronic music performances.
We offer workshops spanning the full spectrum of modern dance music production:
Ableton workshops covering the industry-standard DAW that powers countless electronic music productions Strudel workshops exploring the innovative live coding platform for algorithmic music creation Beat DJ workshops focusing on the real-time sample manipulation tool that's revolutionizing DJ performance Live coding sessions demonstrating how code can become a creative instrument General dance music production covering fundamental techniques and workflows
Performance & Community
Beyond education, we provide a platform for artists working across electronic music's diverse landscape. Music Mondays welcomes performers specializing in:
- Techno and its driving, hypnotic rhythms
- Trance with its emotional buildups and euphoric releases
- IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) pushing experimental boundaries
- Microtonal music exploring alternative tuning systems
- Drum and bass with its complex breakbeat patterns
- Breakcore's chaotic, high-energy aesthetic
This diversity reflects electronic music's current moment: a scene where genres blur and innovation happens at the intersection of different styles and approaches.
Supporting Artists & Educators
Our economic model demonstrates our commitment to supporting the community. With tickets priced at $25, we maintain accessibility while ensuring sustainability. Crucially, we give 40% of ticket sales directly to the artist or workshop host, creating a meaningful revenue stream for participants and encouraging high-quality contributions.
We recognize that electronic music education and performance require significant expertise and preparation. By fairly compensating contributors, we can attract top-tier educators and performers while building a sustainable ecosystem.
Our Inaugural Event
We're launching the series with a Beat DJ workshop, offering hands-on training with our innovative sample manipulation software. This choice reflects the intersection of traditional DJ culture with modern technology - teaching artists how to move beyond simple playback toward real-time creative manipulation of sound.
Beat DJ represents the evolution of DJ tools, allowing for live chopping, rearranging, and processing of samples in ways that blur the line between DJing and live production. It's exactly the kind of forward-thinking tool that embodies our educational mission for Music Mondays.
Getting Involved
For producers, DJs, and electronic music enthusiasts in the Bay Area, we offer multiple ways to engage with Music Mondays:
As a workshop host: Share your expertise in production, performance, or music technology with our community As a performer: Showcase your original electronic music to our engaged audience As an attendee: Learn new skills and discover emerging artists in our intimate setting
Our weekly format allows for both casual participation and deeper engagement over time. Regular attendees can progress through different workshops while building connections within our community.
Join Our Movement
Music Mondays represents more than just another event series - it's our vision for how electronic music communities can thrive through education, performance, and mutual support. In an era where technology rapidly evolves and genres continuously emerge, we believe having a space dedicated to learning and experimentation is invaluable.
